[ Ulat-Ulat ]

Sampe lupa kenapa bisa tercetus nama Ulat-Ulat ini. Entah dari mana datengnya tapi yang gw inget ini gara-gara demam lagu kepompong itu. "Persahabatan dengan yang ompong..kecebong...kedondong.." Hhehehehe kaga gitu sih lagunya. Lagunya lumayan asik kalo didengerin mah. Orang pun bisa langsung hafal dengan 1 atau 2 kali juga. Nah yang jadi masalah "Apa sih Ulat-Ulat teh??". Okay kita mulai. Gw pertama ketemu mereka pas kuliah semester akhir kemaren, pas lagi sibuk-sibuknya nyusun skripsi sambil ngerjain acara TOEFL Workshop 2008 yang katanya super sukses itu (*zzz...), yang diawaki oleh 18 orang sukarelawan termasuk gw en partner in crime gw Liliy (yang notabene nya mahasiswa angkatan tua yang harusnya udah cukup pengalaman organisasi en lagi fokus ma skripsi). Tapi paaaakkkkk..!!! Ini fakta, gw ma Liliy ngerjain TOEFL Workshop sambil iseng ngerjain skripsi (*kaga kebalik tuh?). Hahaha gw aja takjub sama kenekatan gw ngenomer duain skripsi gw demi lahirnya acara independen (*modal dengkul tepatnya) yang kita rancang sedemikian cantiknya (*wadullll..!!!). Nah diantara 18 orang tadi ini ada yang menarik perhatian gw ma Liliy. Ada 6 orang cewe yang rame luar biasa, berisik, banyak tanya, kadang ngeselin, tapi 1 hal yang bikin amaze, mereka masih muda (*ini karena mereka angkatan 2007 ye..jelas muda dibanding gw yang angkatan 2004 hihihihi...) tapi mereka mau kerja, minimal usaha buat bikin dirinya keliatan sibuk di depan ketua pelaksana (*walopun tengah-tengah rapat masih suka ganjen kalo tim dokumentasi sibuk meng-capture momen rapat). But..mereka nunjukin semangat yang bikin gw ma Liliy malu kalo kita ga ngasih semua buat acara ini. Walhasil berangkatlah kita ber-18 membuat sebuah gebrakan (*halah!) yang berjudul "TOEFL Workshop : Road To Success". Gak usah diomongin kalo masalah sukses apa gak. Buat kita panitia acara yang kita bikin ini udah termasuk sukses. Nah balik lagi ke masalah 6 cewe tadi. Siapa mereka? Mereka dianugrahi Tuhan dengan nama Heni, Devita, Siti, Nia, Dina and Desi. 6 jagoan yang sekarang jadi model sukarela buat praktek fotografi gw, yang sekarang merambah jadi partner kerja gw, kadang juga jadi badut-badut yang siap bikin gw cengar-cengir kalo lagi sedih, udah kaya kotak rahasia buat gw. Kapan pun gw mau, gw bisa muntahin semua kedalemnya. Lama-lama gw makin deket ma mereka. Makin kaya pohon ma benalu. Mereka juga punya keunikan masing-masing. Ada yang cerewetnya ga ketulungan, emosi nya meledak-ledak, agak lama klo mikir, diem-diem aja. Hahaha pokonya mah aneh lah. Kaya 6 keajaiban dunia (*tujuh bedull!!). Gw berharap yang terbaik buat mereka. Be my best partner always. Walopun gw ga pernah bilang ataupun jarang bilang sayang ma kalian ber-6. Kalian lebih tau, kalian ngerasain apa yang gw lakuin buat kalian. Gud work Sista!

Kadang-kadang ketulusan atau kepercayaan memang agak susah buat di dapetin. Apalagi masalah uang. Entah kenapa tapi mungkin uang emang jadi bagian yang bisa sangat-sangat sensitif kalo dibahas. Orang aja bisa saling bacok cuma karena uang Rp.500,-. Apalagi urusan uang Rp.200.000,-. Mikir berapa kali mungkin orang mau ngasihnya.
Gw cuma mau bilang, gw bertemen dari dulu gak pernah punya niat buat aneh-aneh.
Kalo gw butuh bantuan ya itu emang karena bener-bener butuh bantuan. Lain kali kalo emang bertemen sama gw cuma bikin lo mikir kalo gw ngambil kesempetan buat memanfaatkan sesuatu, GET LOST.
Dan satu lagi. Ini bukan untuk pertama kalinya. Gw ga masalahin duit yang lo janjiin, NEVER. Ini masalah rasa percaya gw ke lo yang emang niat nolong gw. So, sekali lagi, kalo emang dari pertama lo ga pernah punya niat or kurang kepercayaan buat nolong gw, SPEAK UP. Jangan skali lagi kasih gw statement "Ntar aku kabarin yah?". Karena statement itu gak pernah jadi nyata!

A guy goes over to his friend's house, rings the bell, and the wife answers.

" Hi, is Tony home?"

" No, he went to the store."

Nora thinks about this for a second and figures what the hell - a hundred bucks. She opens her robe and shows one. He promptly thanks her and throws a hundred bucks on the table.

Nora thinks about this and thinks what the hell, opens her robe, and gives Chris a nice long look. Chris thanks her, throws another hundred bucks on the table, and then says he can't wait any longer and leaves.

Sejak tanggal 5 itu, gw mutusin buat memperbaiki hidup gw dengan ngejalanin satu hubungan dengan seseorang yang gak asing di idup gw sebelumnya. Bedanya, sekarang dengan komitmen baru. Tanpa paksaan, gw ma dia cuma menjalani yang ada di depan mata. Walopun masih ragu sama apa yang gw ambil, gw yakin untuk sekarang dia yang terbaik.
Tapi sejujurnya, ada sedikit yang bikin gw mikir. Apa gw siap keilangan dia yang selama ini jagain gw? Apa gw siap kalo dia harus pergi? Gw rasa kalo mau ngikutin perasaan gw ya jawabannya bakal selalu gak. Gw takut keilangan dia. Takut dia pergi. Takut dia gak ada lagi di idup gw. Padahal gw selalu butuh dia, walopun konteks nya beda sekarang.

Weezer was founded in los angeles on february 14, 1992 by rivers cuomo, jason cropper, matt sharp, and pat wilson. the band began writing music and playing local clubs. despite not having much success at first, the band pressed forward. after 16 months together, playing shows and recording demos in los angeles, dgc records (geffen) signed weezer. the band moved to new york to record at the famed electric lady studios under producer ric ocasek (of cars fame). during the recording of weezer, jason left the band to take care of his future wife, who was pregnant with their first child. jason was replaced by brian bell, a then bassist from a band called carnival art.

Weezer's self-titled debut album was released on May 10, 1994, and was a hit from the start. they released three singles from weezer: "undone - the sweater song", "buddy holly", and "say it ain't so". "buddy holly" won several mtv awards that year, and weezer eventually went double-platinum. after several tours around the u.s. and the world, the band settled back in; rivers went to school at harvard, matt and pat worked on a new band named the rentals, and brian resumed work with a former band of his, the space twins. in the early winter of 1995 and the summer of 1996, weezer once again commenced into the studio, but this time they were to produce the album themselves.

On september 24th 1996, weezer's much-awaited second lp, entitled pinkerton, was released. it is quite the opposite of weezer; the guitars are more gruff, the lyrics have a deeper meaning, and the band's talent and style has matured considerably. weezer released three songs from pinkerton: "el scorcho", "the good life", and "pink triangle". pinkerton went gold in record sales and has been a steady seller since. in the band downtime after pinkerton, matt sharp has left the bassist position (under good terms) to pusue his ever more notable band, the rentals. filling matt's place is mikey welsh, of boston, and formerly of juliana hatfield's band. during 1998 rivers & mikey played a few shows together in boston (dubbed "the rivers cuomo band"). the following spring rivers and mikey joined brian and pat in los angeles and had on/off rehearsal sessions over the next couple of years. rivers devoted some time to "homie" which released one song, brian released a couple of records with his spacetwins, and pat and mikey toured with the special goodness.

Fast forward to spring 2000. after playing unannounced shows under secret names, in addition to more frequent rehearsals, weezer booked dates on that summer's warped tour, and subsequently a nationwide club tour. much to the band's surprise the dates sold out instantly. juiced by an overwhelming fan response and a wealth of new material, weezer was back. following another sold-out tour in the fall the band continued writing and practicing new material in los angeles into 2001. a christmas song e.p. was distributed to fans and radio stations and shortly before the new year weezer began recording their 3rd effort, dubbed "the green album" in los angeles, again with producer ric ocasek. with the album finished the band got back on the road for much of the rest of 2001. Mid summer saw another line-up change, with Mikey replaced by bass heavyweight Scott Shriner. The band continued their relentless touring through 2001, finally pausing to record their 4th album, Maladroit, which was released in May 2002. The band continued touring till september, when they took a break and intermitently worked on new tunes for a 5th album.

The combination of musical energy between brothers and Hayley’s bold charisma earned them instant attention, particularly from Florida indie Fueled by Ramen, who signed the band and put them to work recording their debut. Says Hayley, “Some of our favorite bands are on Fueled by Ramen. We knew that they would know exactly how to carry out the vision for our band and music.” Paramore went into the studio with producers James Wisner (Dashboard Confessional, Further Seems Forever, Underoath) and Mike Green (Yellowcard, The Black Maria) and blew them away with their sincerity and enthusiasm.

Paramore, the rapidly emerging pop-punk quintet from Tennessee, has been building a near-deafening “next big thing” buzz. Driven by riveting live shows and the undeniable charisma of their frontwoman, 18-year-old Hayley Williams, they have captivated an increasingly rabid following. Confronted by the double-edged sword of overwhelming early praise, Paramore has risen to the challenge and recorded an album that happily delivers on all the claims made on their behalf. With their new Fueled By Ramen collection, “RIOT!,” they announce that they have the talent, the passion, and the songs to take themselves to the next level.

The band’s rise has been the result of consistent hard work since Hayley first met Josh Farro (guitar, age 20) and his younger brother Zac (drums, age 17) while they were together in school four years ago. After adding Jeremy Davis (bass, age 22), Paramore was formed in 2004. They played their first show in Nashville, and were soon building a local fanbase. After just a few months of gigging, the band had their first big break in early 2005, when Fueled By Ramen founder John Janick saw them at a gig in Florida. He was instantly struck by their presence and their dedication, and he immediately signed the band to the label. As Hayley says, “Fueled By Ramen has been amazing to us. So many kids started checking us out because our name is on their roster. It’s like a big family; we all share such a massive unit of fans.”

Upon the release of their debut album, “ALL WE KNOW IS FALLING,” in the summer of 2005, the music community began taking immediate notice of the band. The New York Times and Spin hailed the album, singling out Hayley as a star in the making. Nonstop touring throughout 2006 with bands such as Straylight Run and Simple Plan, combined with show-stealing festival performances at Warped and Bamboozle, continued to build the momentum. The year culminated with a sold-out headlining tour of North America in the fall of 2006, as well as successful tours of both Europe and Japan.

The accolades continued as 2006 came to a close. After an overwhelming response to a U.K. tour at the end of the year, Kerrang! readers voted Paramore as the “Best New Band” and Hayley as the #2 “Sexiest Female.” NME named Paramore one of the ten acts to watch in their “New Noise 2007” feature, proclaiming Williams as “young, articulate and with plenty to say.” Some bands would begin to get nervous with those kinds of accolades. Not Paramore. “I love getting all the ‘Next Big Thing’ notices,” says Hayley with a grin. Josh continues, “The first few years everything was new to us and we made a name for ourselves as a band in a lot of places. But with ‘RIOT!,’ we’re really ready to blow people’s minds.”

It only takes one listen to “RIOT!” to see the depth of the band’s growth in the past two years. Produced by David Bendeth (Hawthorne Heights, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Killswitch Engage), the music has taken on a richer, deeper, more intense tone, without sacrificing any of the melodicism that has been their trademark. As Hayley explains, “For us, the title ‘RIOT!’ literally means an unbridled outburst of emotions. When we were writing, it seemed like our thoughts and emotions were coming out so fast that we couldn’t control them. It felt like there was a riot within us. So the album takes our passion to a new level; it’s just all raw energy.”

That raw energy and passion is evident in “Misery Business,” a song that has its origins in a message Hayley put on the band’s Live Journal page, asking her fans to post what they’re ashamed of. “I found that people really were reaching out to someone to spill their guts to,” she recalls, “So I did the same thing lyrically in the song and let everything out. It’s more honest than anything I’ve ever written, and the guys matched that emotion musically.”

The wryly titled “For A Pessimist, I’m Pretty Optimistic” stems from what Josh reflects as “putting your faith in someone and they blow it.” But in the writing of the song, he saw that his faith in his bandmates was not misplaced: “I wrote the music specifically to be awesome live and to be extremely energetic. It all came out at once. I showed it to Hayley and she just nailed it lyrically. She completely got the feeling I wanted the song to have.” And “Hallelujah” serves as one of the album’s true anthems. As Hayley recounts, “It’s one of the oldest songs we’ve got, but we wanted to save it for this record, and it’s the perfect home for it. It’s a claim of victory for both ourselves and our fans.”

That connection with their audience is most evident in “Born For This,” a song that was specifically written for their fans. “We wrote it as a message to them,” Hayley explains. “They’re going to take us to the next level. Everything they’ve done has helped us so much… it’s really kept us going.” And to drive that point home, the band held an online contest for fans, with the winners getting to sing gang vocals on the song.

“Next big things” come and go, but it is obvious that Paramore has something special – both talent and staying power. “RIOT” is the band’s declaration of ambition, musical growth, and dedication. “We all have such a love and passion for this music,” says Josh. “We’re lucky to have made such a connection with our fans that we’re making a difference in their lives.” Hayley concludes, “We want everyone to hear this album. We want to take it as far as we can. ‘RIOT!’ is everything we ever wanted to say on one album. If it all ended today, this is what we’d want to be remembered for.”

REVIEW..

Skeeter Bronson (Adam Sandler) mungkin bukan termasuk contoh orang yang sukses. Pekerjaannya sebagai teknisi di sebuah hotel tak terlalu menjanjikan masa depan buat Skeeter. Namun semuanya tiba-tiba saja berubah saat Skeeter menemukan satu bakat 'unik' yang dimilikinya.
Tanpa disadari, semua cerita yang dibacakan Skeeter untuk kedua keponakannya tiba-tiba secara ajaib menjadi kenyataan. Skeeter yang 'membaca' peluang emas ini kemudian mengarang-ngarang cerita dengan maksud mengambil keuntungan dari bakat anehnya ini. Skeeter bermaksud mengambil alih posisi Kendall (Guy Pearce) sebagai manajer hotel.

Sayangnya, 'campur tangan' kedua keponakannya mengubah rencana menuju kesuksesan ini menjadi malapetaka yang tak terbayangkan. Kini Skeeter harus berusaha keras untuk 'memperbaiki' semua kerusakan yang secara tak langsung telah ia lakukan.

Dunia dongeng memang tak pernah berhenti menjadi daya tarik buat anak-anak, bahkan mereka yang sudah dewasa. Dan peluang inilah yang mendasari film hasil arahan sutradara Adam Shankman ini. Waktu peluncuran film ini pun terasa tepat karena pada liburan panjang akhir tahun biasanya seluruh keluarga punya waktu luang cukup banyak untuk nonton film.

Namun meski film ini dibuat untuk 'ramah' anak kecil, bukan berarti bahwa orang dewasa tak dapat menikmati film ini. Humor-humor segar yang muncul dari kekonyolan Adam Sandler masih cukup relevan untuk dikonsumsi seluruh keluarga. Hasilnya, film ini memang pas dikonsumsi seluruh keluarga di penghujung tahun 2008 ini.

Soal akting, para pendukungnya memang tak perlu lagi diragukan. Sukses memerankan tokoh yang dirundung kesialan seperti dalam film LITTLE NICKY atau ANGER MANAGEMENT membuat Adam Sandler terlihat 'pas' memerankan tokoh Skeeter dalam film ini. Yang agak disayangkan mungkin adalah Guy Pearce yang agaknya kurang pas dipasang sebagai pemeran karakter Kendall.

Yang tak kalah menariknya justru adalah penampilan dua bintang cilik Laura Ann KeslingJonathan Morgan Heit yang terlihat begitu wajar memerankan dua keponakan Skeeter. Sementara Russell Brand yang pertama kali tampil dalam film FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL juga terlihat 'enjoy' berperan sebagai Mickey.

Jangan berharap ada logika karena film ini memang adalah sebuah dongeng sebelum tidur. Dan seperti kebanyakan dongeng sebelum tidur, banyak hal mustahil yang bisa saja terjadi. Terlepas dari itu, Adam Shankman, sang sutradara mampu mengolah ide cerita sederhana namun liar ini menjadi sebuah tontonan happy ending yang layak jadi tontonan penutup tahun ini.

*Menurut gw nih film rame juga, kocak abis..apalagi tiap kejadian-kejadian di dongengnya kejadian. Asik juga bisa berperan jadi orang lain yang dongengnya kita karang sendiri. Hmmh..salah satu film terbaik buat akhir taun 2008. Jempol buat film ini. Ga rugi koq nontonnya.

Niat jam 7 pergi dari rumah. Udah mandi, wangi..siap kumpul ma sanak saudara di satu daerah, Margahayu tepatnya. Sesuai rencana, berangkat kesana karena ada acara bakar-bakar. Bukan bakar jenggot, bakar rumah, apalagi bakar emosi, yang ini bakar ikan dan kawan-kawannya. Jam 7.15 "Brangkatttt!!!"
Tancap gas, lagu koil menemani, ah..nikmatnya dunia.. Tapiiiii.... ealah...macet juragan. Hufft..malem taun baru kaya gini udah pasti macet dimana-mana. Males deh..kalo bukan karena tuntutan sodara-sodara yang pengen banget ngumpul di malem taun baru. Gak bakal deeeh.. Mendingan stay dirumah, nonton film-film yang biasanya keren-keren. Secara gitu kan..semua channel sibuk nayangin film-film yang yahud buat narik minat nonton. Ada yang bilang pertama kali di layar kaca anda lah..haha ada-ada aja. Nah balik lagi ke jalan tadi. Bused deh baru mau keluar dari jalan deket rumah aja udah ruameeee banget. Motor-motor plus orang-orang yang udah siap bertaun baruan hilir mudik. Ada yang bawa orok! Weleh-weleh..bu..bu..anaknya belum cukup ngerti taun baru kan?Haruskah dibawa serta?? Udah gitu orang-orang ga pake helm juragan!! Aih aih...mau mempertaruhkan nyawa di malem taun baru kah? Hah..payah..
Jam 8 sampailah di tempat tujuan, ya ampuun mas buoooy!! rame nian.. Sodara yang kecil-kecil sibuk gelendotan di tangan. Eh dateng-dateng malah ditodong makan. Huduh..kebetulan sekali juragan, perut ini udah dangdutan dari jaman di jalan tadi. "Serbuuuuu!!!" Ikan bakar menunggu, yumm.. Wuih..rasanya mantab nian..
Kenyang melahap ikan bakar, mata gw pindah ke jeruk mini-mini yang menggoda. Abislah tu jeruk masuk ke perut saya sebanyak 10 buah. (Huahahaha rakus saya!!) Tapi gpp lah, ga bikin gendut da..Heu! Perut terisi, ngantuk pun datang!!! Ah sial..gimana bisa gw melewati taun baru kalo ngantuk setengah mampus. Waduhh..toloooong..mata udah 5 watt niy.. Tiba-tiba "Tooeeeeetttttt!!!!". Alah inang..bunyi terompet pas di kuping plus tambahan ide gimana kalo kita ngukur jalan bandung sekarang. Huduh..marilah kita brangkat. Jam 10 malem kita cabut ke daerah Soekarno Hatta. Sepi ah..lanjut deh ke daerah Buah Batu. Sepi juga. Usul punya usul gimana kalo kita meluncur ke daerah yang agak rame (*inget ya AGAK rame). Eh kita meluncur ke arah Gasibu. (*??? gimana ceritanya ni tempat AGAK rame??). Macet juragan..dari mulai daerah Cilaki udah mulai ngerayap deh jalannya. Hufftt...Setelah 30 menit ngerayap terus karena ga bisa maju, ga bisa mundur. Ya udah ikuti arus aja lah. Akhirnya nyangkutlah kita di daerah Gasibu tadi. Ampuuunn!! Ga bisa maju juragan! Maju dikitpun akhirnya kita mutusin buat parkir alias nangkring. Berhubung kaki pegel..parkir lah kita. Jam 11.20 tuh gw inget. Orang-orang makin sibuk cari spot paling asik buat nikmatin malem taun baru. Tapi ada juga yang sibukbakar petasan, kembang api sampe bakar rokok. Tapi tetep koq ga ada yang bakar emosi. :)
Lanjuuuttt...Jam 12 kurang 10 menit..orang-orang udah banyak yang siap diem di tempat. Siap-siap menikmati kembang api taun baruan. Sebenernya udah dari tadi juga sih cuma baru yang ecek-ecek aja tuh. Itu pun udah bikin orang-orang ini jepret sana jepret sini kembang apinya. Ada yang sibuk foto ma pacarnya, yang jajan, malah ada yang tidur sambil nunggu ganti taun (*edan nya lagi temen sebelahnya bakar petasan pas deket kepala orang yang tidur itu..haha konyol..). Tapi ajaib dah ni orang, kaga bangun!! Weleh-weleh..kesurupan doi..
Lagi asik merhatiin orang sekitar gw, tiba-tiba "Doaaarrrr!!!" kembang api super gede di langit sono asik-asikan muncul. Nyita perhatian semua mata disitu termasuk gw. Tanpa sadar, gw keluarin HP en mulai ngerekam semuanya. Keren.. Udah lama juga gw ga ngalamin taun baru di luar. Bukan karena apa-apa. Tapi kadang suka ga penting aja hura-hura di luar. Tapi ya boleh lah buat taun sekarang, anggap aja hiburan, nonton kembang api gratisan, bukan buat hura-hura. Lagi-lagi..setelah jam 12, semua bubar jalan..walopun masih ada yang asik-asikan foto ma temen-temennya. Tapi gw ma sodara-sodara mutusin buat pulang aja. Wong niatnya bukan nagkringin taun baruan sampe bubaran semua. Jam 1 teng! Kita cabut pulang ah..
Beda dari pas kita berangkat tadi..jalanan bener-bener kosong. And sampe lah kita dirumah, masing-masing sibuk lagi sama urusan masing-masing, ada yang tidur, makan, nonton dvd, telfon-telfonan ma pacar, gw sendiri lebih milih duduk di depan notebook trus chat sampe pagi deh.
Hmmmh... Happy new year ya smuanya!!!
